COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Anthony Moses of Covington has been named April 2023 Academic Outstanding Student by the Black Men’s Engagment Network.
Moses is a senior at Virginia Tech, studying business information technology, concentrating on decision support systems, and his cumulative grade point average is 3.72.
He is the president of the Pamplin Undergraduate Mentoring Program (PUMP), and every week, he is on air on WUVT 90.7 FM playing various types of music. Some of his passions are data analytics, music and giving helpful advice.
Moses says one of the best things about being a Black male student at Virginia Tech is the opportunity to have both social and organizational support to help Black male students achieve success. He recently accepted a job offer with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as a digital assurance and transparency associate. He has a great passion for technology, so his post-Virginia Tech goal is to continue learning about technology in his position at PwC. His personal dream is to travel around the world and experience different cultures while his career dream is to be a chief information officer for a large company or nonprofit organization.
Moses says his father, Vincent Moses Sr., is his role model because his father always taught him to keep working hard and maintain the “fire in the bell.” His father taught him family history, ways to oneself and life skills like negotiating, basic plumbing and basic woodwork. During his leisure, he loves DJing at WUVT, playing video games and hanging out with friends.
