COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – WestRock’s Alleghany Highlands Operations announces position changes that were internally announced in December 2022 and January 2023.
Seth Miller accepted the position of procurement forester. In this position, Miller is responsible for purchasing paper fiber material for the mill at competitive market pricing; negotiating material pricing with local forest landowners, suppliers, consultant foresters, and land companies; and managing open market suppliers, including those delivering pulpwood and chip products to specific locations.
Miller earned his A.A.S. degree in forestry from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in 1999 and his B.S. in occupational and technical studies from ODU in 2012. From 1992 to 1996, Miller served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Miller joined the Virginia Department of Forestry as a forestry technician in 1999. Beginning in 2005, he worked as the erosion and sediment control administrator for Botetourt County. He joined MWV in 2006 as a forestry technician and was later promoted to senior forester. He joined Long Island Lumber in 2017, as a lead forester.
Don McCullough accepted the position of utilities manager. In this position, he is responsible for managing the operations of power and recovery including safety, production, and quality.
McCullough earned his B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Penn State University and his M.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech. He earned his MBA from Longwood University in 2022. He held the positions of project engineer and production foreman at Inland Container Corporation in Rome, Georgia. McCullough joined MWV in Evadale, Texas, in 1998 as assistant superintendent – Fiberline before moving to senior engineer on No. 5 paper machine in 2000. He became senior project engineer in the Engineering department at Evadale in 2002 and joined the Covington mill in 2005 as senior project engineer. In 2013, he accepted the position of senior principal engineer in the Engineering department and was promoted to engineering manager in 2014.
Tim Bradley accepted the position of safety coordinator in the safety department. In this position, he is responsible for providing safety and health support to the Fiberline and Area 4.
Bradley graduated from Alleghany High School and has an advanced safety certification from the Chesapeake Regional Safety Council. Bradley worked as a temporary in security at the Covington mill from 1990 to 1992. He began his career with Westvaco in 1992 when he was hired on the extra board. Bradley moved to GUD a few months later and joined C8 as a fourth assistant in May 1993. He moved through the progression on C8 to second assistant coater operator in 2013 and served as SME on C8 from 2006 until 2018. Bradley joined the safety department in 2018 as an hourly safety facilitator. He rejoined C8 in May 2022.
Samantha Posten accepted the position of senior procurement specialist. She will be responsible for the procurement of chemicals, parts, labor, and equipment for the mill. Posten will work closely with employees, product/service suppliers, corporate procurement, and mill purchasing to secure products and/or services. In addition, she will submit requests for quotes and reviews, evaluate bids, schedule meetings with prospective bidders and for negotiations and process/monitor blanket service purchase orders. She will perform functions needed for dispute resolution/problem-solving and prequalify “new” contractors.
Posten worked at The Greenbrier resort from 2005-2012 before joining Allstate Insurance as senior sales producer in 2012. In 2016, she accepted the position of maintenance data analyst through ManPower at the Covington mill. Posten joined Westrock in 2017 as a maintenance planner – intermediate. In 2019, she accepted the position of tour foreman and, in 2020, she accepted the position of AMS – general mill services. In February 2021, she accepted the position of AMS – Area l and moved to tour foreman in December 2021.
