Covington, VA – The Alleghany Humane Society is pleased to announce the continuation of low-cost spay and neuter surgeries for pet owners in Alleghany County, Covington, and Clifton Forge. WestRock’s Covington Mill has provided funding to support the program for several years. In addition to the Mill, recent humane society grant request efforts have also resulted in funding from BISSELL Pet Foundation, PetConnect Rescue, and the Virginia Federation of Humane Societies. Low-cost spay/neuter surgeries will be available to local pet owners until all grant funds are allocated.
The cost to the public for feline surgeries is $35 which includes rabies vaccine (if needed) and pain medication. The cost for canine surgeries is $60 which also includes rabies vaccine and pain medication. Surgeries are provided by the Angels of Assisi.
Spay/neuter surgeries for this program occur one day per month. For information, call the Alleghany Humane Society at 540-862-2436. Surgery dates usually fill up a month or two in advance. Thank you for spaying or neutering your pets!
