Popular Palace Restaurant Receiving Congratulations On its Fifth Anniversary
The Palace Restaurant located on Main Street in Covington, this year began its fifth year of operation and can look back on continuous customer satisfaction since its opening on March 28, 1934.
Under the successful management of Mr. Chris Psomadakis, who has been in the restaurant business in Covington for the past seventeen years, this popular eating place has attracted not only local patronage but has established a reputation throughout this section of both Virginia and West Virginia as serving as palatable dishes as can be found.

Library Advance Gifts Committee Meets Tomorrow
A meeting of the Advance Gifts Committee for the proposed community library will be held at Nettleton’s Reception Center at noon tomorrow according to Nelson Y. Coxe, chairman of the library Ways and Means Committee.
Members of the Advance Gifts Committee are Nelson Y. Coxe, Desmond L. Farrell, R.L. Persinger, Miss Carolyn B. Nettleton, Wallace McClung, Mr. Gertrude Hatcher, Miss Lily Albert, Russell Smith, Frank Kinzer, Earl Bailey, James Steger, Lacy Jordan, E. K. Scholz, B. C. Moomaw, Jr., and Ralph Query.

Covington Democratic Party To Hold Mass Meeting
Members of the Covington Democratic Party will hold a mass meeting Saturday, April 9 to elect delegates to the state and sixth district conventions.
Candidates for delegates must file their intention with the party chairman, R. L. Woods five days prior to the meeting.

FIFTEEN YEARS AGO
AET Closes
Applied Extrusion Technologies Inc. closed its Covington plant Monday.
The closure, announced in September, eliminated 126 jobs.
AET said the Covington plant’s small size and high infrastructure costs hindered its competitiveness.
Earlier this year, the company said it will expand its manufacturing facility in Terre Haute, Ind. starting with a $9 million project.
