Sandra Spinks Bruce

Sandra Spinks Bruce peacefully completed her earthly journey on March 6, 2023. She now resides where Jesus has prepared a place for us. She was greeted by her parents, Robert “Bob” Spinks and Alta Salisbury Spinks; her beloved husband, William “Bill” Bruce; and her adored daughter, Tammy Bruce Feagans.

Sandra was born April 30, 1942, in Battle Creek, Michigan. She and her family later moved to Covington, VA, where she would meet the love of her life at Covington High School. They married August 4, 1962, and enjoyed 57 years together. They welcomed their pride and joy, Tammy, in 1965.

Sandra loved animals, playing putt-putt, cheering for Jeff Gordon and the #24 car, camping, and going to the beach. She bowled in the women’s league at Oaklawn Bowl and was proud of her high game of 221. She enjoyed the countless children who she cared for throughout her years as a homemaker. She also loved her weekly outings to the “Hen House” to get her hair done.

Although she did many things in her life, her greatest role of Nana was yet to come. She leaves to cherish her memories, her grandsons, Andrew B. Feagans and wife, Liz, and Matthew B. Feagans; her adored great-grandchildren, Bronx, Hudson, Kaden, and Maddie. She leaves behind a sister-in-law, Carol B. Deeds, who helped Sandra keep her memories alive when dementia tried to steal them away.

She leaves behind many nieces and nephews who have enjoyed the extra time spent with her. They helped to keep her supplied with Dr. Pepper, candy, and endless jars of pickles. Sandra was blessed to have a multitude of friends throughout her life. Although dementia stole many of her memories, Sandra continually loved her family and friends.

Special thanks to Commonwealth Senior Living in Hampton, VA where Sandra has been a resident. She enjoyed family nights, bingo, and reading The Daily Chronicle.

Family will receive friends on Friday, March 17, 2023, from 12:00 p. m. to 1:00 p. m., at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow. Interment will be at 2:00 p. m., on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Alleghany Memorial Park, 7008 Winterberry Avenue, Covington, VA 24426. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.”
