Mrs. Betty Cahoon Dressler, age 84, of Covington, died Monday, February 13, 2023, at LewisGale Medical Center, Salem. She was the wife of Paul Kenneth Dressler.
Mrs. Dressler was born March 17, 1938 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Samuel Dewitt Cahoon and Sarah Lee Cummings Cahoon. She was a lifetime member of this community. During her working career, Betty had been employed by the former H.O. Canfield and Westvaco before finishing her career as a data processor with Manpower. Mrs. Dressler was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church as well as the Women of the Church. Betty was also a member of the Jackson River Garden Club. In her spare time, she loved fishing and watching birds.
In addition to her husband of sixty years, Paul, Mrs. Dressler is survived by a son, Kenneth Dwayne Dressler and wife, Ellie of Covington; a daughter, Kimberly Sue Dressler Patsell and husband, John of Lynchburg; five grandchildren, Justin Dressler and Katie McCurry, Travis Dressler and Michelle, Drew Patsell, Sarah Patsell and Ian Patsell; three great-grandchildren, Samuel Dressler, Kayleigh Dressler and James Dressler; two step-great-grandchildren, Noah Harmon and Hunter Harmon; a sister, Evelyn C. Beard of Covington; and her special pet, Splouchy Sue.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dressler was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Cahoon and her brother-in-law, William Beard.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 18, 2023, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Travis Dressler, Justin Dressler, Drew Patsell, Ian Patsell and Damien Hollenbeck. Honorary pallbearers will Bruce Clarkson, Gene Lee, Roger Amos and Allen Dressler.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home, Covington VA.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Mission Fund, 1200 N. Alleghany Avenue, Covington, VA 24426.
