Kelsey Nicely led the Alleghany Lady Mountaineers (8-2, 1-0) past Three River District rival, the Radford Bobcats (3-7, 0-1) on Wednesday, 52-18.
Nicely scored a game and season-high 13 points for the Lady Mountaineers who were playing in their district opener. It was the second game in a row that Nicely scored in double figures.
The Lady Mountaineers were coming off of their second loss of the season to the Liberty Lady Minutemen on Monday, 65-54.
Wednesday’s victory over the Lady Bobcats was a great bounce-back victory for the team, who had four total players score in double figures. Along with Nicely, Kendell Keene scored 11, while Macyn Cash and Abbie Fridley each added 10.
The Lady Bobcats grabbed 11 points from Izzy Lyton who led her team scoring.
It was the first time the Lady Mountaineers played against the Lady Bobcats since the Class 2, Region C Championship game at Roanoke College last February in which was won by the Lady Bobcats 47-34.
The Lady Mountaineers were a part of last nights triple-header against Floyd County.
In Monday’s loss, the Lady Mountaineers had a trio of scorers in double figures. Keene had a team-high 22 points, while Cash had 13, and Nicely had 10.
