Clifton Forge, Va. (VR) – After more than 18 months of planning, the LOVE Sculpture Committee is delighted to announce that the Clifton Forge LOVE Sculpture will be unveiled on Saturday, November 19 at 5:15 p.m. in its permanent location at the Masonic Amphitheatre grounds, 513 Church Street.
The Clifton Forge LOVE Sculpture is an extension of Virginia Tourism’s LOVEworks program, a state-wide branding initiative designed to promote travel in Virginia and strengthen awareness of the half-century “Virginia is for Lovers” message.
Clifton Forge’s LOVE Sculpture promotes the history and beauty of the area with each letter representing the uniqueness of the Town. L represents a thriving arts community, O represents the heritage and significance of the railroad, V represents the value of education and E represents the unparalleled vistas and outdoor activities.
Each letter has a QR Code attached to further inform educators of the attractions of the Town. When visitors hold their smart phones up to the QR Code, they are immediately transported to the LOVE Sculpture website. They can find more information on everything from local restaurants to parks and trails to the latest exhibit at the arts organizations or a show or event at The Historic Masonic Theatre. A total of 46 elements inhabit the five foot tall L-O-V-E letters.
The Clifton Forge LOVE Sculpture will attract people from the immediate community, in addition to travelers from near and far, while educating and encouraging further exploration of the area. The LOVE Sculpture is meant to act as an economic stimulus for the Town.
The initial unveiling on November 19 at 5:15 p.m. takes place after Kriskindlmarkt closes for the day and ends at 5:45 prior to the 6:00 p.m. lighting of the Town Christmas tree. All are invited to join the unveiling. A ribbon cutting is planned for a later date after signage and landscaping have been completed.
