WASHINGTON (VR) ā U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-VA), Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, released the statement below after the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) announced a critical step in enacting a Warner-authored law that would require companies who are responsible for U.S. critical infrastructure to report cybersecurity incidents to the government.
āIām excited to see CISA move forward with implementing this cybersecurity law, which will help us counter the growing threat of cyberattacks against our institutions and allies. This is an important effort to shore up our nationās information security and Iām glad to see CISA act with the urgency it merits. I encourage stakeholders to participate in this process and look forward to seeing CISA continue to move expeditiously to adopt these vital safeguards.ā
Specifically, CISA announced a series of public listening sessions as well as a Request for Information (RFI) ā both of which seek to collect input from the public in order to help develop proposed regulations required by the Cyber Incident Reporting for Critical Infrastructure Act of 2022.
