Jailbreaker Is Again In Toils
George Reedy, who about a month ago broke jail at Louisa, and who was thought to be heading for Ohio, was caught Wednesday by Deputy Sheriff Earl Taylor, of Augusta County, in company with Sheriff W. L. Dillard, of Rockingham County and Sheriff A. M. Wash, of Louisa, on the road on Cooper’s Mountain, near the home of Tom Reedy, a brother of the escaped man. The irony of the capture was the fact that it was due to the desire of his wife and relatives to see him. The chase lasted from 12 o’clock midnight to 4:15 Wednesday morning.

‘Artist’ Preys Upon Widows, Chamber Warns
The Chamber of Commerce has been told that there is a man operating in the area proposing to paint portraits of recently departed members of the family. The procedure is to get a photograph of the deceased from which a portrait is to be painted. He also asks for cash in advance, the balance to be paid when the portrait is delivered, according to the Chamber’s informant. The Chamber is also told that the man informs the prospective customer- usually a recently bereaved widow- that he obtained her name through the Chamber of Commerce.
