The City of Covington Parks and Recreation would like to announce their first Down on Main Street event for the summer. This event takes place Saturday, June 18 from 3-9:30 p.m. on Main Street in Covington. This night of music is sure to be an electrifying flashback to the 50’s and 60’s. The Five $ Shake Band from the Roanoke area will be providing rock and roll music of the 50’s and 60’s starting around 3:00 p.m. This group has been performing for the last 20 years and brings a lot of talent to their performances. Rebels of Rhythm Cloggers will perform at 5:30 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., we will have the high energy group BIE. The British Invasion Experience comes from Salisbury, Maryland and pays tribute to a genre that changed the world of music. This group will be performing songs by British groups that rocked the world in the late 50’s and the 60’s. They will surely spark a memorable and exciting flashback to that era for all that come out. Also, joining us that evening will be car enthusiasts from the surrounding areas. There will be food and beverages available for purchase. This event is free and open to the public. Allen Dressler, Director of Covington Parks and Recreation stated, “he encourages everyone to dress up in their 50’s and 60’s attire and come out for a dynamic and explosive night of music.” For more information please call the office at 540-965-6360.
