Ethan Bradley Nicely, son of Brad and Erin Nicely, has been selected to attend this year’s Virginia Boys State Program to be held June 19-25, at Radford University.
Rising high school seniors from across the state will have the hands-on experience of creating a political organization which operates from the local through the state level. This leadership program is designed to give participants a working knowledge of our state law and court system, parliamentary procedure, and Virginia political history as they elect their own leaders from among the group of program participants.
Ethan is used to a demanding and busy schedule as he completes college level courses in English and math offered through a dual enrollment program, whereby receiving college credit for college level academic courses. He has enjoyed computer robotics projects which involve building robots and then competing with other student-built robots.
In addition to these academic courses, Ethan has been very successful in Band, attaining a seat in the All District Honors Band, for which he auditions and participates in a two day learning class followed by playing in numerous concerts. As if these interests don’t completely fill up his time, Ethan participates in three School sports, football, wrestling, and soccer. Still, he finds more time for outdoor fun in hunting! Whew!
Good luck to Ethan from the Sharon Ruritans as he meets and works with Virginia students with whom he may befriend in college or in the workforce one day in the future.
