For the first time this season, the Alleghany Lady Mountaineers (7-2-1) soccer team was held to zero goals made.
Fortunately, for the the Lady Mounties, senior goalkeeper, Emma Williams, and her three saves and eighth shutout of the season, kept the Lady Mounties out of the loss column on the road against the Carroll County Cavaliers following a 0-0 2OT (double over time) tie.
Following her 16 save performance in a 7-0 victory over Glenvar on Tuesday, Williams, did all she could to keep her team out of the loss column for what would have been the Lady Mounties third loss of the season. In the teams only losses this season (both to Byrd, the Lady Mounties scored at least one goal in each.
Senior, Kinley Eggleston, was held to zero goals for the first time since March 22nd at Byrd. In the tie against the Cavaliers, Eggleston had four good chances at scoring, but was 0-for-4 with shots on goal. The Lady Mounties as a team had seven total shots on goal. Ashtyn Bishop, Carlee Lanford, and Lucy Nicely, each had one shot on goal.
Meanwhile, on the defense side of the soccer field, as great as E. Williams was in the game as goalkeeper, seniors, Payton Reynolds and Caydance Ramsey, each had five steals. The Lady Mounties had 15 total as a team. Sophomore, Abby Williams, added three steals.
Despite scoring zero goals in the tie with the Cavaliers, Eggleston, is currently ranked tied for 96th (T-96) overall in the United States for goals made on the season according to Maxpreps. Eggleston, has made 26 regular season goals this year.
