Jeter-Watson Intermediate School students Miley Bowers, Belle Simpson, and Macie Stull recently raised $103 to benefit the COPE Food Pantry at McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church in Covington.
The three girls approached Kit Staunton, the principal designee at JWIS, to discuss ways they could give back to their community. When Jeter-Watson Intermediate and Edgemont Primary School collected canned food items in February as part of a Super Bowl Contest, Miley, Belle and Macie joined the cause.
“These three young ladies got together, on their own, and created hand-made bookmarks and earrings. These creations were available to the JWIS/EPS staff members for donations. The MBM Bookmarks and Earrings Trio raised $103 for the COPE Food Pantry. These girls have set a great example of what can be done to help others,” Mr. Staunton said.
