Tiger Woods, who set a PGA record by not missing a cut for seven years and three months and seven days, will tee off at the Masters today.
Woods suffered severe injuries to his legs in a near fatal car crash nearly one year ago, and his comeback will require him to walk approximately nine miles during his 18-hole attempt to make the cut.
Having won five Masters, second only to Jack Nicklaus, Woods will be put to the test as he will be competing against golfers who were mere children and teenagers when Woods dazzled the world of golf by making the cut in 142 consecutive PGA tournaments from 1998 to 2005.
To put Woods’ comeback into perspective, LeBron James, the NBA star, was only 14 the year Woods began his record-breaking streak.
The announced odds for Woods making the cut have been set at 45-1, but with five green jackets in his closet, Woods’ drive to tie Nicklaus may be the deciding factor.
