Shorty Wolfe, the pastor of Loving Life Fellowship Church in Clifton Forge, has a special way of celebrating Saint Valentine’s Day.
He and the men in his congregation have established the tradition of cooking Valentine’s dinner and decorating the facility in honor of the women in his congregation.
“The men do all of the decorating and cooking and cater to the women,” Wolfe remarked as some 40 diners partook of the meal the men had prepared.
Four guests were present from Covington and two from Roanoke, all being treated to roast ribs, smoked ribs, barbeque and baked chicken in addition to a wide variety of vegetables and several homemade desserts.
The building on Ridgeway Street in Clifton Forge once belonged to Straight Street, a national 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) nonprofit organization founded in 1995, and Pastor Mike Rollins of Living Stones Ministries was instrumental in bringing Straight Street to Clifton Forge.
Wolfe recalled, “Straight Street donated the building to our church five years ago, and Mike Rollins helped make that happen.”
There is still a Straight Street operating in the Roanoke Valley, and what was once Straight Street on Ridgeway Street in Clifton Forge is now Loving Life Fellowship Church’s Community Outreach located adjacent to Wolfe’s The Way Coffee Shop.
Currently, Wolfe serves as a member of the Clifton Forge Town Council and owns and operates C. T. Wolfe Home Improvements that has recently renovated six houses in Clifton Forge.
Tammy, Shorty’s wife, is in charge of running The Way Coffee Shop and helping with the church and its outreach, and their daughter, Brittany Wolfe, and their daughter-in-law, Carolyn Wolfe, help Tammy operate The Way Coffee Shop.
